Florida Press Release: Independent authorizer approves 17 new charter schools

February 20, 2008. The Florida Schools of Excellence Commission (FSE) made its first formal approvals of new charter schools last week, demonstrating rigor in the process and joining 16 other states that permit entities other than school boards to approve charters.

Perz, Sally

Sally Perz is Founder and President of Cardinal Learning, a school services and consulting company. Previously she headed The Capitol Link, an Ohio based public affairs and government relations consulting firm. She is also a founding member of JVS Group, LLC, which helps charter school boards and authorizers seeking to expand and build on increasing success.

As a state representative for Ohio, Perz helped develop the language for the charter school movement, and founded Ohio’s first statewide charter school resource center.

Mike McKeown and Paul Clopton of Mathematically Correct at CER’s 5th

The Center for Education Reform honors Paul Clopton and Mike McKeown, founders of Mathematically Correct!, as distinguished heroes in education reform at its 5th Anniversary Gala Celebration on October 28, 1998 in Washington, DC.

Clopton & McKeown became active in K-12 mathematics education in reaction to the experience of their respective children in public schools. Apart from founding Mathematically Correct, both have worked on state mathematics framework, statewide tests, and textbook adoptions in California.
